ISS Monitor - $15.30 - $17.46 per hour DOE. 10-month school year schedule. 40 hours per week. 

 

At Wilson School District, we believe that education should be shaped by a sense of purpose. As the In-School Suspension (ISS) Monitor, you will provide direct supervision, provide monitoring and supervision for students serving in In-School Suspension (ISS) during the day and after school. Provides a positive, structured, academic atmosphere for students in a suspension alternative program.  May use computers in performing assigned tasks.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:     

• Provides instructional assistance and encouragement to students to complete their assignments.
• Maintains discipline in the In-School Suspension Program.
• Keeps records and completes necessary reports for the program on a timely basis.
• Consults with teachers daily and makes appropriate reports regarding student progress and assignments.
• Confers with students individually and/or in groups to modify unacceptable behavior and emphasize positive skills.
• Works with teachers and counselors to identify students in need of additional assistance from outside community groups or agencies.
• Serves as an integral part of the school discipline team.
• Attends and participates in staff development and training sessions, as necessary.
• Clarifies the purpose, goals and policies of the In-School Suspension Program for teachers, parents and volunteers.
• Work schedule to cover after school program as needed.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: ·         High school diploma or GED. ·         Computer knowledge preferred. ·         Ability to provide assistance to students with academic work.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: ·         Two (2) year or four (4) year degree.   ·         Preferred good written and verbal communication, organization, basic mathematical and reading skills (preferred).  ·         Ability to provide assistance to students with academic work.

We are a Pre-K through 8th grade school district in Phoenix, Arizona, established as the seventh school district organized in Maricopa County in 1879 and named for Mr. W. J. Wilson, a school board member.  The district name was changed in the mid-1930’s to Hawkins School.  From Wilson to Hawkins to Ward to Skiff, the District was bought by Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and relocated to its current location in the early 1980’s and named Wilson Primary and Wilson Elementary, opening on Martin Luther King Day in 1985. The district boundaries cover an area from Roosevelt Street to the north; the Salt River to the south; 40^th Street to the east; and 16^th Street to the west.
